Buckeye Detection Systems Releases the BDS-50 Gas Detection Transmitter

Buckeye Detection Systems proudly announces the launch of the BDS-50 Gas Detection Transmitter. The BDS-50 offers user-friendly, real-time detection and is designed to monitor and detect combustible and toxic gases in hazardous work environments.

The highly customizable BDS-50 will take your gas monitoring efforts to the next level. This gas detector offers features that solve many of the issues that we see in the gas detection world. The BDS-50 universal sensor cartridge is compatible with infrared (IR), cat-bead and electrochemical sensors, has multiple output options, and is equipped with many display preferences for a truly customizable experience.

Dual 4-20 mA analog outputs, programmable (4) relays, and Modbus RTU RS-485 all come standard on the BDS-50. This allows for maximum flexibility and compatibility. No more ordering a la carte or trying to use a part builder to figure out what systems your detectors need.

Digital Input (remote alarm activation) allows users to manually activate alarms or integrate with system interlocks, enhancing flexibility and response time during emergencies. This capability is particularly valuable in large facilities or hazardous environments where manual activation may be challenging. Additionally, The remote Acknowledge (alarm reset) enables users to reset alarms remotely.

When designing the BDS-50, we opted for a keyed sensor installation and keyed sensor installation. This makes it significantly easier to install sensors when the transmitter is in a hard-to-reach area or an area with low visibility. Our universal sensors are built with a rugged, industrial design and robust sensor electrical connection.

The accessories available for the BDS-50 include a calibration adapter, weather guard w/ bump testing and flow cell adapter. Like the sensors, we developed a simplified installation for these attachments to reduce improper use and improve how the accessories connect with the BDS-50 sensor housing. All of these attachments are easily connected with a ¼ turn connection.

The BDS-50 uses a display plug-in module that houses and protects the transmitter’s electronic elements. The vivid color display and menu-driven screens are user-friendly, intuitive and enhance user interaction. The settings allow you to customize the interface and easily display a lot of information. Examples of this include changing the screen color so it’s easier to read in your working conditions and displaying alarm set points on the home screen as well as changing the displayed value color when in alarm.

The BDS-50 is approved for Class 1, Division 1, Groups A, B, C and D T6 locations in the U.S. and Canada. This means that the BDS-50 can operate safely where flammable gases and vapors are present continuously or frequently in ignitable concentrations. The BDS-50 ensures safety by alerting before harmful gases reach dangerous levels.
